Where did you get the name Cool Creek Financial?

I often get asked why I chose the name Cool Creek Financial. When you start your own company, you have the ability to name it whatever you want. Cool Creek holds a special meaning for me. My wife and I bought our first home on Cool Creek Way many years ago, and we also started our family here. I have four children—two daughters and two sons (two of these children are a set of twins). When considering names, this particular name kept coming back to me, and it felt right to name the business after the place where it all began.

What does discretionary portfolio management mean?

When we provide portfolio management services, clients grant us limited authority to buy and sell securities on a discretionary basis and debit our fees. Essentially, we can place trades on your behalf (e.g., for rebalancing) based on your agreed-upon goals and investment strategy. Since we don't receive any compensation or commissions for trading, there is no risk of churning your account, as a non-fiduciary broker might be incentivized to do.

How will you invest my assets?

We may choose investment vehicles that are considered passive, active, or a combination of both styles. We may engage in both passive and active investing in your portfolio. However, our primary aim is to construct portfolios of funds and individual securities that we believe will have the greatest probability of achieving your personal financial goals with the least amount of volatility and risk, rather than attempting to outperform an arbitrary index or benchmark.

Do you take custody of my assets?

For your protection, we DO NOT take custody of your investments. Your accounts will be held at Schwab Institutional, and I will have access to manage them on your behalf. As a fee-only firm, I do not receive any commissions or sell financial products.
